Tymes Trust Alert 2011-03 Message from Jane 11 April 2011 ====== 'DO TREATMENTS FOR ME/CFS WORK?' An invitation to my talk : Saturday 7 May ====== This is to let you know that this coming ME Awareness month, I have been invited to be the main speaker at the Annual Conference of the Shropshire ME Group. I hope to meet any of you who can get there and together I am sure we will all make it a really successful day. I decided on the theme of treatments because it's such a hot potato at the moment. There is so much confusion about treatments and therapies which we feel can only have been further complicated by recent press coverage of the PACE Trial. (If this is your first Alert, you can read my last Alert about the PACE trial at www.tymestrust.org/tymespublications.htm.) The conference is from 2.00pm – 4.00pm at the Memorial Hall, Bayston Hill, Shrewsbury, Shropshire. The centre is about 3 miles south of Shrewsbury on the A49. If you're using a SatNav, I'm told that the postcode SY3 OAD takes you right past it. The conference is open to anyone with an interest in ME/CFS (either or both!) and admission is free. Information and copies of various publications will be available. There is good parking and disabled access, and refreshments will be provided. ABOUT US Mark has recently updated the About Us page on our website. If you need to provide information about the Trust for anyone, such as your school, your GP, or other members of the family, the updated page at www.tymestrust.org/aboutus.htm will be useful. You may also find the Sponsorship form on the Donations page helpful if you're one of those doing ME Awareness month fundraising. We just received an unexpected cheque (lovely surprise!) with copies of the form which someone had printed out and used. Here in Stock it's been warm and sunny and really looks like Spring at last. I hope it's the same where you are. There's a fairly narrow band of temperatures which is known to be helpful for people with ME – not too cold and not too hot. If you are able to get outside and are tempted to spend time in the sun, simple measures like sunglasses, a hat, and a regular drink can help avoid headache. Some people are better off staying in the shade. Just try and do what's best for you. Take care and I'll write again soon.
