Tymes Trust Alert 2018-01 : OUR HOUSE OF LORDS AFTERNOON TEA Message from Jane 27 June 2018 ====== OUR HOUSE OF LORDS AFTERNOON TEA : WHAT AN OCCASION! FAMILY TESTIMONIES : THE USE OF INTERACTIVE VIRTUAL EDUCATION FOR YOUNG PEOPLE WITH MYALGIC ENCEPHALOMYELITIS (ME) ====== Dear All It's a while since I sent out an Alert, so firstly a reminder that you're receiving this email because you subscribed to Tymes Trust Alerts via our website. You will have confirmed this by clicking the link in the subsequent email you were sent. The email Alerts are not linked to membership of the Trust. OUR HOUSE OF LORDS AFTERNOON TEA Last Monday 25th June, on a glorious summer's afternoon, we had another of our Tymes Trust Teas, along with our special guests, Nisai Learning. It was hosted on our behalf by our Founder Patron, Lord Clement-Jones, in the House of Lords, Palace of Westminster, and this year's theme, which had been kept under wraps until the day, was Young Hearts. One of our guests emailed us afterwards: "Thanks so much for a magical time at the Lords." I couldn't think of a more apt word to describe the atmosphere. Looking at the photos it's clear that everyone was just so happy. I'm tempted to tell you all about it now, but I think I'll leave the photos to tell their own story, once we're ready to publish an official account of the day. Sufficient to say that the tea was great, Young Hearts Awards and Education Awards were presented, and Terry Waite played a central role in all of it. Big smiles all round. If you're a member of MembershipPlus, you will automatically receive an invitation to the next event. I'm pleased to say that we managed to find places for everyone who asked to come this time. That was some sort of magic in itself! NEW DOCUMENT : FAMILY TESTIMONIES : THE USE OF INTERACTIVE VIRTUAL EDUCATION FOR YOUNG PEOPLE WITH MYALGIC ENCEPHALOMYELITIS (ME) https://www.tymestrust.org/pdfs/familytestimonies.pdf We have a new document for you on our website. Everyone who came to our event was given a printed copy in their guest pack, and you are welcome to print out your own copies or send the link anywhere you choose. The document explains for schools, doctors and others, why young people with ME cannot just attend school in the usual way, and we include two family testimonies of working with interactive virtual education. The document started life as a short presentation for the Children's Commissioner, who wanted to know why we were saying that virtual education was so effective. Well, of course, it's essentially because it's energy efficient and accessible from home. When everything is online these days, why should education not be?
